About The Broward County Chihuahua Meetup Group

Hi! Thank you for your interest in this chihuahua meet up. I began this meetup shortly after I moved to Florida in October 2006. I saw all of the wonderful dog parks that Broward County has to offer and soon began to take my chihuahuas to play. I noticed that my chis didn't like playing with the larger dogs. They were both on edge and didn't seem to enjoy themselves unless there happened to be other chihuahuas at the park. My chis loved being around other chihuahuas, so the idea was born....a chihuahua play group. I started searching the web for play groups (just as you probably did if you are reading this.) I found the meetup webpages and saw that several people were interested in chi meetups and play groups but none had been started yet in the Broward area. I took the plunge and we started. Melissa was the first brave soul to join and has been an amazing organizer!! Our first meeting had only three people but I am proud to say we have grown to 100 members (and still counting.) Not only do we have so many wonderful members but we have an incredible turn out. At our last meeting I counted at least 60 people, and don't forget, many of our members have multiple chihuahuas!!

Our group is about getting the dogs togther to have fun and get some exercise. It is amazing watching so many chihuahuas in one place. I have to admit, the people seem to be having just as much fun as the dogs (maybe more!) A bunch of members usually bring blankets and we find some shady spots. Everyone just relaxes and watches their dogs play. The shy ones usually are in someone's lap, but they have fun too.

Where else can you talk endlessly about chihuahuas? If you are like me, my non-chi friends and family (I know crazy people) only let me go on for so long about my furry babies but.....here at our meetup, we want to hear everything chi! Chihuahua talk is enjoyed and encouraged!
