from what i read if you want to show a dog they have to be 6 pounds and under. They can be bigger than that, Yoda is probibly right about 19lbs by now. Both his parents were under 8lbs, you never know what a mutant gene will do ![]() |

i know i have a "crock pot" chihuahua & not a "tea cup" - LOL! i know Doucie has got 2 b @ least 14lbs if not 15 by now. when she was 7mnths old, she got fixed & she was 12lbs & i know she's grown since then. she just turned a year old not even a week ago & she is a big girl but no fat, yet. course when some1 askes me what kinda dog i have, i just tell them that she is a rare type, half chi & half dalmation- 'cause she has so many spots on her. i always get a giggle outta that 1.

Mifi,
I don't blame you for being a little incensed. Stuff like that does get on your nerves after awhile. I guess just think of it as proof to what folks don't know about Chi's. What I can say... Your baby is marked so pretty and 9lbs isn't a freak. At least you can see him when you go to sit down. Give that boy a hug from me and grrllls! Vent here anytime you feel like it... the rest of us do. Syndi & The Grrllls! (Maggie & Holly) |

I get that all the time. Jorgie weighs 8 pounds (as far as I know, I've only weighed him on a human scale recently so it could actually be more than that) and wherever I go people ask what he is. I tell them that he is a Long Haired Chihuahua. People's first reactions are "Wow, I didn't know Chihuahua's came in long haired" I guess people have been brainwashed by the Taco Bell dog. And then after I tell them that Chi's come in both SC and LC they look at me and are like "Well he can't be purebred, he's too big" they always say he's mixed with a pom or a spitz or something...which he isn't. Sometimes I just go along with it because I can't be bothered to argue

Thank you all for sharing!!! You've all made me feel so much better.
![]() Well, I don't feel bad because my boy is big, lol, it's just day after day, the endless comments and reaction from people on the streets get on my nerves a bit. I honestly like the fact that Tequila is a big boy so I can play rough with him without worrying about breaking his leg or things like that. He's just a lot tougher, not a complete toy that you could only carry around with. And it's so much fun to take him to the park and watch him run, I mean, he LOVES to run, he would just run in circles by himself, non-stop and sooooo fast, lol. However, in some people's eyes, giant chihuahuas aren't the "real" ones because Paris Hilton's or whatever celeb's chi are all 3 pounders! I'm not against 3 pounder chi by any means, I just can't stand people who take chihuahua (or dog of any kind) as a kind of accessory to make them up to date with the hollywood trend. I do also love the tiny ones, my ideal future involves two chi babies, one giant one tiny ![]() Anyway, It's good to know that I'm not alone and now I feel I can definitely deal with it better! BIG HUG to all the giant chi out there! (also to the not so giant and the tiny ) ![]() |

Paris Hilton needs hit on the head with a rubber mallet. Thanks to her all the little teen-age girls got the idea that everyone needed a Chi for a purse ornament. What an idiot!
I also blame her for the latest insane "Teacup" thing... for Pete's Sake. Talk about just going wide right on something. She disposes of her animals like most people change clothes. She is just empty as far as being a human being goes. Syndi & The Grrllls! (Maggie & Holly) |
